Easy File, the electronic alternative to WinJammer for filing financial statements, is now available

We are pleased to announce that Easy File, the electronic alternative to WinJammer for filing financial statements, is now available. The CFTC has approved Easy File as the accepted method for Non-Broker/Dealer Introducing Brokers to submit their 1-FR-IB financial statements to NFA, which will continue to satisfy the requirement to file with the CFTC.

We are confident that you will find Easy File to be a more efficient and cost-effective way for you to meet your financial reporting requirements. In addition, we intend to expand the Easy File system in the future, making it available to all Members with financial reporting requirements. Easy File should be used to submit all future unaudited 1-FR-IB statements beginning with the June 30, 2004 statements, which are due on or before July 26, 2004.

To access Easy File you need a security manager in NFA's Online Registration System ("ORS"). Your security manager can update your security level for Easy File. To do this:

    1) Have your security manager sign on to ORS
    2) Click on the 'Security' tab
    3) Click on 'Display Users'
    4) Click on the 'Edit account' button for the user you want to have Easy File access
    5) Scroll down and update the Security level for the Easy File System from 'None' to either, 'Enter' or 'Submit and Enter'

Enter gives you the ability to enter the financial information into the system, but you will not be able to submit the statement. Submit and Enter gives you the ability to enter and submit the statement. This feature was designed to allow for one individual to enter the data without submitting it in order that supervisory personnel could then review the data and submit the statement. Your security manager should assign the Submit and Enter security level only to you if your firm is a sole proprietorship, your firm's general partner if your firm is a partnership or your firm's chief executive or chief financial officer if your firm is a corporation or similar type of organization.

The security manager also has the ability to add additional users to the system. To do this:

    1) Have your security manager sign on to ORS
    2) Click on the 'Security' tab
    3) Click on 'Add Firm User'
    4) Complete all required information for the new user
    5) Designate the security level for Easy File
    6) When all information is complete, click 'Add' at the bottom of the page and a User ID and password will be generated for the new user. The new user will be able to sign on and access the Easy File system after approximately 15 minutes.

If you have any questions regarding your firm's security manager, please contact NFA's Information Center at (800) 621-3570 and a representative will assist you.

Access to Easy File is available on NFA's website www.nfa.futures.org under Compliance, Electronic Filings and Easy File (1-FR-IB Filers). You will need to enter your User ID and password and the Filing Index will be displayed with the various options available regarding your financial statements. We have provided system help, statement help and in-line help within Easy File to assist you with your filings. We welcome any and all feedback involving Easy File.

If you have any questions regarding Easy File, please contact Erin Mattes at (312) 781-2236, John Brand at (312) 658-6560 or John Brodersen at (312) 781-2226.
